TLC Center sponsors The Twilight Brigade Weekend Training for End-of-life Caregivers
If you are interested in working with the elderly, or anticipate working with families, then death and dying are issues which you will certainly encounter. This is a great opportunity to prepare yourself on multiple levels to deal with those who are dying and their loved ones.
The Twilight Brigade is a national non-sectarian all-volunteer association of end-of-life caregivers. It provides a weekend intensive training which prepares people to serve as hospice volunteers or provide end-of-life care to loved ones. All people who are interested in end-of-life issues are welcome at the training, as public education and advocacy for the dying are part of our mission.
The Connecticut Chapter is sponsoring a weekend training Sept. 26-28 in Norwalk, Connecticut. The training will take place 7-10 p.m. Friday, 10 - 10 Saturday, and 10-5 Sunday @ TLC Center in Norwalk.
The seminar is taught using adult experience-oriented techniques, so there are many activities and exercises and a minimum of lecture.
The seminar addresses safety and hygiene issues, as well as providing exercises which address issues of communication and personal feelings about death, dying and bereavement. It meets OSHA standards for training in safety, and National Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Organizations guidelines for caregivers. It is led by a social worker trained in groupwork and certified by The Twilight Brigade National Training Committee.
We are requesting a donation of $75 for the training to cover materials and incidental expenses ($50 for students). For more information about the seminar or to sign up please contact Karin Nemri (Karin.Nemri@TwilightBrigadeCT.org or 860-243-0869 ).
