Norwalk, CT August 8, 2001 Total Life Care Center's Health for Life Partnership is throwing a FUNdraiser on Sunday, September 9, 2001 at Amberjacks Restaurant in S. Norwalk, CT. The fun begins at 4 p.m. and will feature the music of Frank's Sister Band. Roussel Photography of Stamford, CT will be the official event photographer, capturing the evening's happenings. This event is planned to raise capital for TLC's first annual October Breast Health Awareness Month. The October program will take place at TLC's location at 152 East Avenue, Norwalk.
TLC's pilot project is dedicated to educating women and men about breast cancer prevention through lifestyle choices and the importance of early detection and treatment. Throughout the entire month of October, the project provides a variety of integrative educational programs representing both the traditional and complementary approaches to breast cancer and breast health. Admission to many of the October events will be free or for a nominal donation. The costs of providing these programs will be funded through corporate sponsorships, private donations, and fundraisers. The appearance of Frank's Sister at SoNo's Amberjacks Restaurant will be the first fundraiser. The proceeds collected from the $20 donation charge will sponsor some of the programs being presented during the month.
Frank's Sister, a band from Southwestern Connecticut, features three female vocalists set against a pop/alternative background. Their debut CD features original music done in a broad range of styles including melodic rock-infused pop country-blues and penetrating ballads. The Stamford Advocate stated, "Frank's Sister has produced a strong debut CD, calling attention to both well rehearsed vocal harmonies and solid songwriting. "Why Not Now," an original Frank's Sister tune was chosen for a CD compilation produced by the backers of the Million Mom March. Frank's Sister performs regularly in the greater New York Metropolitan area.
Health for Life Partnership's goal is to donate half of the net proceeds to Breast Cancer Foundations and use the remaining funds to create ongoing health programs in the local community, which will provide ALL women and men life saving information, referrals to high quality screening services and follow-up care.
