The Total Life Care Center's Health for Life Partnership presents Breast Health Symposium on Sunday, October 28, 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at 152 East Avenue, Norwalk.
The Breast Health Symposium features a panel discussion with experts in various areas of traditional and alternative medicine. "Creating Breast Health in the 21st Century" begins at 12 noon and ends at 2pm with a question and answer session.
Members of the panel include:
· Monique Class, MSN - Diet, lifestyle, supplements
· Drew DiVittorio, Dipl. C. H. - Chinese herbology for the breast
· Marian DiVittorio, Breast Cancer Survivor - Survival skills, attitude
· Beth Leas, Holistic Consultant - The energetic connection, the Heart Chakra
· Vijaya Nair, MD - Mental health aspects, epidemiology, "Haelan" soy supplement
· Mona Robinson, RN - Self-care for life (massage, self-exam, breastfeeding, aging)
· Susan Santangelo, Breast Cancer Survivor - Support and Education
Throughout the session, panelists will address the following issues:
· How do you think your specialty creates breast health?
· How do you feel the current approach of western medicine/society creates or impedes breast health?
· What roles do education and preventative strategies play in creating breast health?
· How can we create breast health for/in our young people?
The afternoon also offers free mini-sessions to cancer patients, caregivers and survivors. These sessions include reflexology, massage, energy work, cosmetic makeovers, chiropractic and more.
During the entire month of October, TLC will provide a variety of integrative educational programs representing traditional & complementary approaches to breast cancer and breast health, emphasizing the importance of lifestyle choices and early detection and treatment. The cost of providing these programs will be funded through donations from corporate sponsors, fundraisers and private donations.
